Trip to Koudum ?
Centrally located between the lakes the Fluessen and the Morra in Southwest Friesland, Koudum is THE hotspot for lovers of a holiday in the middle of nature. Whether on or around the water, there is plenty to do here and Sustainaway has picked out a few nice sustainable outings for you!
Come and enjoy a day of sailing or experience a real water sports holiday over the Frisian lakes. For young and old, with friends or family, Koudum is the ideal base for active kitesurfing, supping, sailing or foiling. It is never as busy there as in other Frisian villages and you can therefore enjoy a trip over the water to Stavoren, Workum and Hindeloopen or a boat trip through the Luts to Balk.
You can easily rent a boat at the VVV Waterland of Friesland or come with your own boat, but if you think: “I prefer not to sail myself”, you can choose a nice cruise and let yourself be guided by nature. You can also register at Sailing School de Morra for a sailing lesson and show the navigator in you!
In short: whether you come to enjoy the Frisian water for a day or want to have a wonderful holiday, Koudum will surprise you with unusual, fun and of course sustainable activities.

Friesland is also known for the famous Elfsteden cycle route, the tour of tours! Over more than 255 km you can enjoy the vast Frisian country, ideal for a nice cycling holiday through the most beautiful places. The landscape between the Lakes, the meadows and the forests is always varied and makes this trip unique. You can of course shorten the trip to take the time to discover the landscapes and the small villages in the area.
Take your bike with you or rent one and start your route on the southern part of the Elfstedenfietsroute. Cycle to Molkwerum at 3km distance from Koudum and cross Stavoren, Oudemirdum and come back to the starting point via Kippenburgh.
On your route you will certainly come across nice catering establishments where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a nice lunch. It is possible to arrange a luggage service and breakdown-on-the-road service and to cycle in peace.

The restaurant De Pianoman will be happy to welcome you and serve tasty vegetarian dishes based on local and organic products. Restaurant De Pianoman is a cozy musical restaurant located on the Hoofdstraat in Koudum. Animal-friendly and local products are used for their dishes. Many of the dishes are vegetarian and they are known for their organic pancakes. During dinner, music is played on the piano and it is all fun.
Corriente’s Kofjehûske is located in the centre of Koudum. Here you can go for a tasty bite, a simple meal or a real high tea.
Corriente is an organization in Southwest Friesland that is engaged in providing work to people with a distance to the labor market, but also organizing daytime activities for people who find it difficult to enter the labor market at all or do not have this opportunity on the regular labor market.
At the Kofjehûske, products from local entrepreneurs are used in large sizes. Also in the gift shop of the Kofjehûske you will mainly find products that come from the local entrepreneurs or the products are made by the clients of the day care.
